All performers, including accompanists, MUST adhere to the Copyright Act. The Kamloops Festival of the Performing Arts will not tolerate the use of any illegally produced materials. It is the participant’s responsibility to provide legally produced materials for the adjudicator, for himself/herself, if needed, and for the accompanist, if any. It is up to the performer to provide proof of authorization for any materials that may appear to be copies by accompanying such materials with a purchase receipt, a letter of permission from the copyright holder, or proof of legally acquired public domain materials.
In most cases, it is highly encouraged that written permission is granted from the copyright holder to copy accompanist’s pages to facilitate page turns. One exception is Frederick Harris Music Co., which grants permission for performers to copy one (1) to two (2) pages per RCM Publication to facilitate page turns in festival performances.
ACCOMPANISTS, DIRECTORS, GROUPS, AND SOLOISTS MUST USE ORIGINAL/AUTHORIZED COPIES IN PERFORMANCE HALLS.
USE OF ILLEGALLY PRODUCED MATERIALS WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION AND PERFORMANCE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.
Please also see General Rule 23.
