EVENT INFORMATION

The Moose Jaw Music Festival has provided performance and educational opportunities in Moose Jaw and area for 75 years. Areas of competition for musicians include: voice, piano, guitar, strings, woodwind, brass, percussion, pipe and electronic organ, choir/school music including special education, multicultural, spoken word, small ensembles, as well as band and orchestral classes. Entrance to the Moose Jaw Music Festival is open to all ages, all ethnic groups and people of all religions. Participants may enter any class for “adjudication only” or participate in our non-competitive classes and forego marks and scholarships. To support our local festival, the SMFA hires qualified professional musicians to serve as adjudicators each year.

Our community embraces the festival concept because it provides:

  • educational growth, as well as entertainment that brings the community together
  • the ability for communities to acknowledge and support the success and endeavours of their young people
  • positive multi-generational interaction
  • encouragement for students to set goals and showcase their abilities, while receiving constructive adjudication from professional musicians
  • opportunity to develop confidence and discipline
